Clarke and Jay Chartered Surveyors was founded in 2013 by Dominic Jay and Cameron Clarke. Having both had long careers in residential and commercial surveying they felt the time was right to provide good quality personalised expert advice that corporate organisations seemed unable to provide. 

MEET OUR TEAM 

Dominic Jay BSc (Hons) MRICS Principal Director 

Dominic has had a long career in surveying, having had management roles in both the commercial and residential sectors. With a varied background, including enforcement work for dangerous buildings, project management and building Surveying on complex buildings, Dominic now leads the team at Clarke and Jay Surveyors. 
 
“I have always had a passion for buildings and how they work. I am now lucky enough to work on some of our most interesting and historically important properties in the region.” 

Cameron Clarke FRICS Consultant 

Having had a long and varied career in the property sector Cameron decided to concentrate on residential building surveying. He has worked in the corporate sector and regional practices and joined forces with Dominic Jay to create Clarke and Jay Surveyors in 2013. 
 
Cameron is now a consultant and continues to provide an excellent level of service that comes with experience. Cameron enjoys working with historic buildings and is a member of SPAB. 
 
When not working Cameron can be found on the golf course or motor homing and now spends more time with his expanding family. 

Jon Owen MRICS Senior Surveyor 

Jon started as a trainee surveyor in the late 1970’s and has worked in the residential, commercial and the property management sectors. Having worked throughout the West Midlands Jon has lived and worked in the our region for the last 30 plus years. 
 
Now specialising in residential surveying Jon is a senior surveyor at Clarke and Jay Surveyors and enjoys inspecting a variety of property types to help clients to safely purchase their dream home. 
 
When not walking the dogs or playing golf, Jon enjoys competing in motorsport events, although he freely admits that he is now slower than his two sons! 

Chris Pennell AssocRICS Surveyor 

Chris has had an impressive career in professional rugby, being the captain of Worcester Warriors. He has been working with Clarke and Jay Surveyors along side finishing his playing career with Dallas Jackals. Chris has always been passionate about property and is looking forward to his latest chapter as a Surveyor in our team. 
 
Having recently qualified Chris is now part of the team providing Level 2 surveys and residential valuations. He also leads on snagging reports and Pre-Completion Inspection Checklists for new-build properties. 
 
“I’m passionate about providing a quality service for our clients and have a genuine interest in all aspects of property. I really love assisting the senior surveyors with our work on historic properties.” 
 
In his spare time Chris enjoys spending time with his young family, long walks with the dog, and cooking roast dinners on a Sunday. 

Joel Fryer AssocRICS Surveyor  

Joel served in the RAF for 22 years as an instructor and Flight Safety manager. He began retraining as a Surveyor towards the end of his RAF career. 
 
After leaving the military, Joel joined a busy surveying practice in Gloucestershire and started to build his experience carrying out surveys and valuations on a wide range of residential property. 
 
Joel now brings this experience and background into the Clarke and Jay team. He will continue to provide Level 2 surveys, residential valuations and Pre-Completion Inspection Checklists for new-build properties. 
 
“I’ve always been hugely interested in buildings and the housing market. Moving into Residential Surveying and Valuation felt like a very natural step for me post military life. I’m passionate about helping people make informed decisions and ensuring that they are aware of any pitfalls when buying a property. The implications for the buyer can be huge if they are not completely aware of the condition of the property that are purchasing.” 
 
In his spare time Joel enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his sons football team and cycling. 

Caroline Monk BSc (Hons) MRICS Surveyor  

Caroline qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 2005.  
 
Having worked in both commercial and residential property sectors in London and the West Midlands, Caroline specialises in residential surveying, defect analysis and providing listed building and conservation advice. 

Zoe Jay Administration & Marketing 

Zoe has worked in the property sector for over ten years. Her time in estate agency provided invaluable experience in property administration, sales, letting and client liaison. 
 
She now works as part of the Clarke and Jay admin team and prides herself in providing a high level of customer service. The role includes administration, organisation of instructed surveys and supporting the surveyors. Zoe has also taken on a marketing role alongside her administrative duties. 
 
“I have always had a passion for everything property, from interior styling and design to property renovation. I love working within the property industry, having renovated properties myself I find it extremely interesting and learn something new everyday! 
 
In any spare time left after looking after her twin boys, Zoe can be found renovating her house, interior styling and shopping for homeware! 

Kim Sparkes Administration & Accounts 

Kim has had a varied career including helping to run the family grounds maintenance company. Having opted for the indoor life she has worked in the retail sector and admin roles for a number of organisations. Kim has also worked in the charity sector for Age UK. 
 
Kim has been part of the Clarke & Jay team for several years looking after back office functions, diary management, sales and making tea! 
 
“Every day is different and I enjoy the interaction with Clients.” 
 
In her spare time, when she is not looking after her Granddaughter and the office dog Archie, Kim enjoys travel and short breaks to her caravan in Wales. 

Kayleigh Griffiths Administration & Client Care 

Kayleigh has had administrative roles in different sectors with a variety of different employers. 
As part of the admin team, Kayleigh supports the surveyors and enjoys working with clients, vendors and agents to ensure that work is organised efficiently. 
 
“Having always had an interest in houses I love working in the property sector.” 
 
When not working Kayleigh enjoys walking her dog Vinnie and is learning how to ski. 

Archie Office Dog 

Archie is an important part of the team. He Keeps the office happy and calm. 
 
Archie is the Office Dog who brings a lot of experience to the role! 
 
“I enjoy all of the attention and biscuits.” 
 
In his spare time Archie enjoys being taken for long walks, chasing squirrels and eating.
